Replica of Ruby Slippers by Eric Decker
These slippers have been painstakingly hand-fashioned to represent Gilbert Adrian's original 1938 design. The base shoe is a read leather 1930's stock pump, size 5. They are lined in creamy white leather and feature an `Innes Shoe Co.` tag on the right instep. The pumps are then hand-detailed with red sequin overlays featuring approximately two thousand-six hundred sequins. The 1/8", strap leather, hand-dyed bows are embedded with three large stones, custom bugle beads, finally garnished with forty-six ruby red Swarovski crystals, each hand set in a silver claw setting. The soles of each shoe are painted in red enamel. Finally, orange felt is adhered to the soles of each shoe. The artist put in hundreds of hours of man-power to make these creations. Previous slippers crafted by the artist are featured in The International Music Syndicate in Colorado, American Film Institute in New York City, and Highly-Noted Hobby Shoppes in Beverly Hills. The slippers up for auction are nearly-authentic re-creations of Gilbert Adrian’s final Ruby Slipper design. To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of MGM’s The Wizard of Oz, these detailed shoes have been constructed in the same way Metro’s Wardrobe Department would have built them for the film. The hand-dyed base stock pumps, size 5 ½, featured a creamy kid leather lining, 2 inch heels, and an embossed ‘Innes Shoe Co.’ stamp on the right instep. The name ‘Judy Garland’ is hand-written in costumer’s pen on the inside lip of each pump, marking ownership of the magic shoes The artist of these 70th Anniversary Celebratory Ruby Slippers has been researching every detail of the magic shoes for over 10 years. His re-creations can be seen in the International Music Syndicate in Colorado, The American Film Institute in NYC, and in the Private Collections of John Fricke (Judy Garland and Wizard of Oz historian), Jessica Grove (Madison Square Garden’s ‘Dorothy’ in The Wizard of Oz), and Lorna Luft (Garland’s daughter and author of Me and My Shadows: Life with Judy Garland), just to name a few! “They’re unbelievable! The Smithsonian wouldn’t even know the difference!” - John Fricke “They’re absolutely stunning! Mama would be proud!” - Lorna Luft These are the closest possible re-creations to the original Ruby Slippers out there. The artist has spent hundreds of hours hand-sewing these remarkable keepsakes, and now they are being offered to you. They would make the ultimate addition to any collection, or the perfect Christmas gift. A Certificate of Authenticity from the Artist, along with a black box storage box with the blueprint on how the slippers were made attached to the lid.
